Look up at the West Glamorgan Archives
« on: Sunday 05 May 13 22:15 BST (UK) »
Would someone who visits the West Glamorgan Archives be able to look up the admission and discharge registers for the Union Workhouse in Neath for Ann Kitchiner (Kitchener) born in 1828 in Holborn, London.

I have not found Ann on the 1881 census but on the 1891 census she is an Inmate aged 63 in the Neath Workhouse. On 1901 census aged 73 is still an Inmate in the Neath Workhouse. On the 1911 census Ann aged 82 is a Boarder in Neath. Ann Kitchiner died in 1913 aged 85 in Neath.

On the 1881 census Ann's son John born in 1867 in London is an inmate in the Bryncoch College Homes, Neath.

I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me when Ann and her son were admitted and discharged from these institutions.

Pauline

Between the 1871 and 1881 census Samuel and Ann separate.

Samuel Kitchiner in 1881, 1891 and 1901 is living with his daughter Annie from his first marriage in Edgebarton, Birmingham. Samuel died in 1903 aged 84 in King's Norton, Worcestershire.

It appears Ann stayed in Wales with the children.

On the 1881 census daughter Sarah A is a Servant in London, Samuel aged 15 is a Gen Servant in Pontardawe, Wales and John aged 14 is an inmate in the Cottage Homes, Neath. Ann and son Alfred aged 10 I have not been able to find on the 1881 census.

That is why I would like to find out the year Ann was admitted to the Workhouse.
