William Cave THOMAS 1820-1906 Artist.

William Cave THOMAS 1820-1906 Artist, bachelor. Does anyone have him in their family tree?
His father was William Thomas, a frame maker and gilder who worked, amongst others, for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
William Cave Thomas had a brother: Robert (who inherited the framing business on the death of their father) and at least 2 sisters - Maria and Emily.  Emily married George Law who was born in Northampton.  They married in St Pancras. They had at least 2 children Florence b 1856 and Laura b 1860.
I would dearly like to track down descendents of this family - to find out more about the artist's life.

He is on a Public Tree on Ancestry, but they have him as dying in 1884.
Son of William Claxton Thomas who in 1851 is "Carver and Gilder. Manufactured picture frames by appontment to Queen Adelaide, the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales, the future Edward VII "

And there`s another one of the same name died 1896  ???

Thanks for that - I believe it is a mistake - he should have been entered as 'working' until 1884.  He had 2 entries in the 1911 Encyclopedia Brittanica and was certainly eating Sunday lunch with Lucy Rossetti in 1885!  Ancestry have him down as dying in 1906, according to an art researcher.

Those are all really helpful, thank you - it is definitely 'my' man - the 'historical painter' is proof enough.
It would be great to track down anyone else in his family - through nieces and nephews.
Thans very much.
