I am trying to find the respective parents of a Richard Godson[b.1829,Castlelyons] and his wife Elizabeth Hartnett[b.1829,Rothcormack].I don`t know where or when Richard and Elizabeth married but in 1871 they lived in Bermondsey.I would be grateful for any info.Thankyou.

Mary Hacknett 33 yrs sister in law

the children are all born Bermondsey

Free BMD has the marriage in 1852, Bermondsey

The certificate will help with fathers' details

Free BMD also has a marriage in 1856, Bermondsey where Thomas Godson marries either Margaret Barry or Margaret Harnett.

1861  322/128/14 has a Thomas and Margaret both born Cork.

www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation  has a richard godson in townland kill saint anne south Parish castlelyons. Placename rathcormack lane.
What denomination was richard?
www.rootsireland.ie would cover baptisms for area :)

There are also Hartnetts in same place. The valuation for Cork was 1848-1852 so could be him otherwise a relative.

Whilst RootsIreland does have an entry for Richard Godson in the free index, the years don't match.

The marriage certificate would give his father's name, which then may help to find out more information.

I have a Catherine Godson marrying a William Fitzgerald. Unknown date, but I would say it was just after 1800. Catherine has details of being from around Rathcormac. William being of Cork City (I think) and children were born within the city of Cork.
They had children around 1807 era. They disappeared to England where they lived until the end of days. There is some details they died as paupers (apparently worked in "workhouses").
One of their children, emigrated to Australia.

Thankyou for your reply.Would Catherine Godson be the aunt of Richard Godson?[b.1829].The Fitzgerald surname is not one I`ve come across in the family tree.Any other info. on Catherine would be really appreciated.
