According to a tree I have found it states he died 13/12/1913 age 82 in Chilham Kent but found no census for him anywhere.

Okay, so with the Hobdens (James Edward Hobden, Jane Ann Hobden (nee Arnold), and their daughter Ellen Hobden):

- arrived Tasmania on 26 Oct 1883 on S.S. Cape Clear

- see http://www.linc.tas.gov.au/ and search separately for James Hobden, James Hibden, Jane Hibden, and Ellen Hibden

- also see http://trove.nla.gov.au/userProfile?user=user%3Apublic%3Aarnoldtc (go to the Tags tab and change the number displayed from 50 to 100, and you'll see links to the Hobdens and other Arnolds)

- looks like Jane died 30 Jan 1919 and is buried at Mathinna, Tasmania
- looks like James died 21 Jun 1926 and is buried at New Norfolk, Tasmania
- Ellen married Harry Simco and had at least five daughters - this is still work in progress for me - but so far there is Doris Nellie (?), Doreen, Madge Winifred, Edith Jane, and Florence Minnie
(search for Ellen Simco on the Linc Tasmania site and you'll find her Will, plus the Trove site should have some newspaper links to her children)

I hope to be in Tasmania soon and plan to get shots of the grave stones.

If you are following the Arnolds, Jane Hobden's younger brother Edward travelled to Tasmania in 1884 and most of the Trove links concern him and his family.

Cheers
Trev
