husband down and we looked together at all the photos.  So much to see  and to discuss. Will take

I didn't say a box camera, I did say that 120 roll film was available about 1900, along with the box camera. Cameras other than plate format would have been available in 1914-15-16-17-18. Even early twin lens cameras [and I know some of those where plate but some used roll film]

These photos are in two sizes; four and a quarter inches by three and a quarter inches. the others are sized  70mm by 47mm

Sorry YT - misunderstanding - just commenting that thought the Brownie Box may have been available by then, many of these don't appear to  have been taken on one!    ;) ;)

Amazing photos; my grandfather's brother died in Mesopotamia in October 1918  :(

A sad but inevitable conclusion I suppose.

I cannot get over the clarity of these pictures.

 Emmeline - I've been telling my OH about them and he'll be taking a look himself tomorrow. It's a wonderful history lesson.
