Don't you think the front left looks as if he is taking off Hitler - in that same photo.   ;)

I thought that too. I doubt he's actually taking him off though as young Adolf was, at that time a relatively unknown corporal on the Western Front!

Very true - OK it is only we late comers who think that!!    ;D ;D   Should be the other way round shouldn't it!!    Hitler taking him off!  Obviously!  ;)

In #46 I am wondering if the chap second right, front row, is Major General Sir Charles John Melliss, or General Melliss as he was then, who is said to have been instrumental in the British victory at the Battle of Shaiba.

This does look like a fairly staged photograph, and he does look important.
