Another brave man under the cross at Basra War Cemetery.

Captain Maurice Burnett, R.A.M.C. was killed in action at Shaiba, in Turkish Arabia, on April 14th 1915, aged 26. He was the son of Surgeon- General Burnett, R.A.M.C. (retired), and he was born on October 31st 1888. He was educated at St. George's Hospital where, after taking the M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. Lond., in 1911, he served as senior house physician. He entered the R.A.M.C. as Lieutenant on January 26th, 1912, and became Captain on March 30th, 1915, when all the lieutenants of the R.A.M.C. on the active list of the regular army were promoted to Captain.

Oh WOW! It gets even better! I was praying that you would be able to pick out some names on the crosses! That is history you have right there in that album youngtug! Amazing!

Can you tell me how many photographs are in the album? And if you don't mind, how much you paid for it? (understandable if you prefer not to say  ;))

On one grave,

Actually it looks like the grave has not yet been dug. Was it usual to have several in one grave?

Photo #12 also seems to show several names per grave.

The freshness of these photos is heartbreaking  :'(
