What is #57 all about?  Was this citadel stormed?  Are they indications of where people died?

What is going on in #57? What are those names about?.

Is #59 the same headland but taken round the left hand corner?

I didn't say a box camera, I did say that 120 roll film was available about 1900, along with the box camera. Cameras other than plate format would have been available in 1914-15-16-17-18. Even early twin lens cameras [and I know some of those where plate but some used roll film]

These photos are in two sizes; four and a quarter inches by three and a quarter inches. the others are sized  70mm by 47mm
