Just checking dates here, and can't see my Richard being married at 13, and no children before 1697 if this is his marriage, any thoughts please ?

Thanks, Jackie

Thank you so much for this. Yes Ann married William Helme, so I think we have it right.

I have a large amount of data on Hathornthwaites (my family name), and I am not sure that the correspondence to date has this quite right about Ann daughter of Richard Hathornthwaite (but I am always willing to be corrected by new evidence). The problem is that there were two Richard Hs living at the same time in Over Wyresdale, about a mile apart. One was at Lower Lee. His was a wealthy family. He was the one who married Ann Dickonson and baptised a daughter Ann 22 Sep 1700 Lancaster St Mary, of the Lower Lee. I think this Ann probably married James Walmsley 11 Apr 1724 Lancaster St Mary. This branch of the H family later claimed (in a lengthy 1816 Will) to be related to the Walmsley family. This Richard H was bur 15 Feb 1728/9 Lancaster St Mary as Richard H of Lower Leey.
However, there was another Richard H in Tarnbrook just up the road from Lower Lee who was bur 22 Feb 1737/8 as Richard H of Tarnbrook and whose 1737 Will names William Helme as Executor, suggesting he was very likely a son in law, so it is probably his daughter Ann who married William Helme, Joiner of Goosnargh, on 28 Dec 1724 Lancaster St Mary, although this Ann's baptismal record appears to be lost.
Altogether, this is a complex area. Many PR records appear lost, as is apparent from a close study of H Wills which often mention far more individuals than appear in the PRs.
