Visit to Matlock Records Office?
« on: Thursday 25 April 13 21:47 BST (UK) »
Hi
Is there anybody going to Matlock Records Office and would be kind enough to take some digital photographs of some documents there, which could then be sent to me via email?
I have found wills, land deeds, notebooks etc there, but being on the other side of the world it’s not possible for me to go there – I wish I could! I could get photocopies of the wills & deeds, but the notebooks I don’t think would photocopy, plus a photocopy is never quite as ‘real’ as a photograph.

I’d be more than happy to pay the photography fee plus a little bit more for your trouble.
I could get them to do it at the office, but at £4 an image it would get prohibitively expensive.

Many thanks indeed

Just clipped this from the Search Room Regulations for the Matlock office:

"Hand-held copiers, electronic scanners, mobile phones with cameras, typewriters, tape recorders and mobile phones may not be used in the Search Room. Cameras may be used subject to the purchase of a photography licence."

so I think you'll struggle to get anyone to take photos for you unless they've already got a licence.
Always looking for GOODWINS in Berkshire :)

Thanks colkitto - I wish you'd seen it the day before you went too!!

I see the licence for a day to take as many photographs as you like is 5 pounds - as
I say, I'd be more than happy to pay that, plus more, if anyone is willing to go.

You're not going again anytime soon are you colkitto?!  :-\
