The other Basement Bargain
« on: Tuesday 23 April 13 08:10 BST (UK) »
Hello
This is the other photo rescued from the basement - this one has been taken with the glass still on because it was stuck in places :(
Hoping you can work your magic again. Also an estimate of the date would be good. The young boy was born in 1902,not sure if that is some kind of uniform he is wearing, and the girl 1897,so I'm guessing she is about 12 or 13?
Thankyou
Barbara

I think the girl may be more 15 - 17 and the boy between 10 - 12 so would say between 1912 and 1914.

Agree with George...the lady's hairstyle is a bit passé but that high-waisted skirt was fashionable just before the war.

Awesome - another collection of great restores. Thanks so much ;D
Now that I think about it ,it must be pre WW1 because I know the eldest son left for Australia after the enlistment roll was published and was on the Military Defaulters list here in NZ -but he'd tried to enlist in Aussie and was turned down for medical reasons.
Hope I'm right in assuming he's the one sitting down?
