Jessie WATSON
« on: Sunday 21 April 13 12:56 BST (UK) »
Can someone advise me please? My great-aunt Jessie Watson emigrated to Rangoon, Burma. She sailed on the Gloucestershire from Liverpool on 26th December 1912. Her occupation is shown as 'maid'. Family 'lore' says that she married whilst overseas and then returned - alone - some years later, possibly a widow. Does anyone know how I go about finding a record of her marriage? As I don't know her married name I can't trace her on an incoming ship and, of course, I can't find her death record.

There are overseas bdm's, or consular returns. Either of these might have a record of your ancestor's marriage. Not sure if Ancestry has them, but findmypast does.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Thank you. I'll give them a go and report back.
