Was this man a bigamist? Robert Ladds JINNETTE

Robert Ladds JINNETTE was born on 28 Jan 1889 in Buln Buln, Victoria

He married Lottie Elizabeth FREEMAN on 14 June 1909 in Druin, Victoria

They had 8 children between 1910 and 1925 (however I have read on story on Ancestry that suggests that some of the later children are not his however this is pure conjecture).

In March 1915 Lottie takes him to court for Wife Desertion he has been away for about 10 months. This is recorded in the Riverine Herald Lottie is living in Womboota near Moama at this stage.

In April 1915 he enlists in the Army in Wodonga and lists Lottie as his wife

In 1941 he enlists again and lists himself as a widower.

He married Vera May Hyatt in 1942 (on her death certificate the marriage date is unknown but this marriage is mentioned - I have not found this marriage myself the date is from another family member).

There is a divorce for a Jinnette vs Jinnette in The Argus in 1946, but as it does not mention first names I have no idea which Jinnette couple divorce.

Lottie did not die until 1948.

Yes thanks I have a digital copy but it is very hard to read.

It doesn't mention his wife Vera only Lottie and only the first 4 of the children are mentioned.

He died in the Heidelberg Repat hospital and the death was registered by someone Robinson.

I think it is her 2nd marriage too.

Oh and Vera died in 1953 so it looks as though he was on his own

Do you know how to find divorces - and if they married in Gippland and lived in Moama NSW which state would the divorce have taken place?

I downloaded Robert's marriage to Vera and it says he was divorced on June 20, 1941.

Interestingly though he only has 4 children on this certificate - so maybe there is some truth to the story that the last 4 were not his.
