Robert Kennedy 1901 Census

Hi all I am new to this site but seems very useful.
I am looking for my wife's Great Grandfather in the 1901 Census. He appears in the 1881 Census with wife and family but only his wife and family in 1901. However i have the following which leads me to think that he may well have been in Barnhill Poorhouse Glasgow.

He died fairly young, in 1902, 1st January at 6am in the Barnhill Poorhouse aged 48. Death registered by Thos Chisholm Asst. Governor 9th January 1902.

Any help from someone who has access to the census as it does seem to be in FindMyPast. Also I understand that there should be Poorhouse record for Robert which would be great to have.

None of the possible 1901 entries match to his occ shown on the death cert

Where was he born?

Can you provide details of the names/birthplaces/birthyears of any of his children so we can check earlier censuses for him

Poor relief records are not available online unfortunately.The Mitchell Library in Glasgow holds the main collection (although some original poor relief records have moved around within the Lanarkshire archives). These archives need to be searched in person on site.Someone here on RC may be able to do a search for you when they next visit the Mitchell Library or you could contact the library direct and make enquires, see www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries/the-mitchell-library/Pages/home.aspx

Thanks for the replies. I hope i am doing this reply correctly.

There is a slight difference in birth year as he was given as 19 when married guessing his birth month could have been after the marriage month of July. There is also a variation in the 81 and 91 census.

Carole were you able to find the Barnhill 1901 census would it be possible to let me see it, as I could not using FindMyPast.
If he was not there in 1901 where was he I wonder.

There were 1377 inmates at the Barnhill Poorhouse for 1901. Four are Kennedy, none are a Robert.

Hi

The WH was also used as a hospital in those days so he may only have been admitted there a short time before his death. 

Still doesn't help with where he was at the time of the census though

Yes Carole I had seen that link to WH but although interesting does not help, but thanks anyway.
Just a thought could he have been in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary at the time of the 1901 Census.
Is it possible to look at that do you think.
