Just getting back to this, I have found out through a family story (the person who posted being a cousin I traced through DNA) that George DID have a brother Tom (or Thomas more likely). This certainly puts the Livingstone Road theory in play. Unfortunately I am just not convinced that some of the options in this thread are valid, particularly the Stepney link - totally different from Wandsworth and Battersea which are always, otherwise consistent in the data I do have access too.
