Help with identifying this member of the Natal Police, please
« on: Friday 12 April 13 10:53 BST (UK) »
I know this photo was either taken in the late nineteenth or, more likely, early 1900s.  It is in the album of my Grandfather, Lt. Col G.S. Mardall who joined the Natal Mounted Police as a Trooper in 1879 and retired as Assistant Commissioner of the Natal Police in 1911.  His cousin, Inspector Earle also joined in 1889, and became Head of the CID, but I don't think this is him.  Any help gratefully received.

Hi

You could try this link and post you pic there as well, they have a detailed history of the NMP and may be able to help you with identification. There is a Lt Col G S Mardall listed on this site as being with the Police.

Go to www.angloboerwar.com and use the name search.

Good luck
