Family in Aberdare, Glamorganshire, South Wales. - Just Starting.
« on: Wednesday 10 April 13 05:18 BST (UK) »
My name is John Arthur Davies, and William John Davies(1886) and Adelaide Davies(1887) were my Grandparents.   When I left Wales at the end of WW11 they lived in Brynmaur Road, Godreaman, Aberdare.   I would like to trace back from this date.   Also I had an Uncle, Ronald Davies, I think that Ronald was a middle name, it was reported that he died in 2010 and his wife Anne was still alive.
I was not informed of the death and cannot obtain further details regarding this matter, any advice or help out there.

This could be their marriage?

December qtr 1909
Merthyr Tydfil district    vol 11a, page 1291

Davies, William John
Davies, Adelaide

Merthyr Tydfil Registration District included the parish of Aberdare.

Did they have a son, Arthur J Davies?
The family are easy to find on the 1911 census, but copyright (& other legal stuff) prevent me from telling any information from that census!

To K Garrard,

Thank you for your response.

Arthur J. Davies was my father and he was born in 349 Cardiff Rd, Aberaman, Aberdare.   This address was next door to the Cardiff Arms?.   My father always said he was born in the Cardiff Arms.   Interestingly, an Ann Davies was the Proprieter of the Cardiff Arms in 1865.   There must be some connection.
Regards, John.

I don't suppose you know anything about your grandfather's early life, names of parent(s)/brothers or sisters? There are quite a few William Davies born in Aberdare around 1866 including one who was apprenticed to a draper as a teenager.
