What is your connection to Patrick & Mary and why do you think he died in 1875?

Are you descended from a child born to them - a very short marriage if he did die in 1875

Hello again, i am helping a friend of mine research her family tree, Patrick Tumilty is her  grt grandfather.
Patrick had a son, Thomas William Tumilty we definetly know (born 3 June 1875, and died 1953).

Thomas married Eleanor Grainger in 1898 in Sunderland.

The elusive one is Patrick, we may think he came from Ireland.

Another thing is that we know Mary Tumilty (nee Keggan) remarried later on to a man named murphy.

Any extra help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Kevin

Thomas was born Sunderland and birth reg spells surname as Tumulty although his death reg is Tumilty

There are 2 Mary Tumilty marriages on freebmd after 1875.  1884 and 1902 but neither show a spouse as Murphy.  Neither marriage was in Sunderland

1884 - John McCoy or James McEnroe - reg district Lanchester

1902 - James Gibson or Thomas McCabe - reg district Durham

What was Patricks occupation on the 1874 marriage cert?  Was he a seaman?

Thanks for the reply, I have found the marriage index in jan/feb/mar 1874, we don't know his occupation, but we are sending off for the certificate, hopefully maybe answering a few questions.
Thanks again, I may be in contact again if you don't mind

Re: occupation.  If he was a seaman/mariner - it's possible he may have died at sea
