McEntagarts Bros..
« on: Sunday 07 April 13 16:31 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I obtained this old photo of my grandfather Patrick Shiels (back row 1st on left)

I have tried researching the company McEntagarts Bros but haven't found much, he was a panel beater by trade and was born in 1914...I think this is around 1930's but wouldn't be sure anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Jess

I had a look Jess but there doesn't seem to be any info out there ::)...The name appears to be of Irish origin.

I found very little info. Just these 2 links.

The following files relate to McEntagart Bros. Ltd., Standard and Packard concessionaires, which had assembled Standard cars in Dublin since 1930; to their acquisition by Standard, 1955, and its operation as Standard-Triumph (Eire) Ltd.; and to an assembly agreement with the Rover Co. Ltd., 1961-3.

Also here in the National Archives,

I have been doing genealogy research for myself & others for many years, just because I love it.

I moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in 2001 and just recently have got into photo restoration.

I am using an older version of Paintshop Pro XI on an even older pc :) & I want to thank in advance all who are helping me on this journey with my new hobby.

Anybody needing NC, VA research, just ask me!

Yes they worked for The Standard Motor Co. - which bought the (virtually defunct) Triumph name in 1945 becoming Standard Triumph. Ironically dropping the "Standard" later to become Triumph.
Local assemblies were a tax break for companies and offered local employment. Cars were sent out boxed up in crates and assembled upon arrival.
