Hi
Marriage:Augusta Bertha POPPE & Arthur BUSHBY 1867, NZ
I believe they both died at Marton, in the Rangatikei?
I can't find them in the Cemetery database though?
http://public.rangitikei.govt.nz/cesform.htmlThere was a large contingent of POPPEs in that Marton area (Rangatikei Manawatu) area - many who do appear on the above cemtery listing. They appear to be all one family: Some of the details are here:
http://www.familytreecircles.com/the-poppes-on-my-tree-includes-new-zealand-settlers-24930.htmlThat tree is made up of:
PARENTS:
Carl Freidrich August POPPE
son of Freidrich August Poppe (August) and Anna Elizabeth Diener of Prussia
Married in Wellington in 1871 and settled in the Manawatu, around Marton area
To: Catherine HEMPSEED, daughter of John Hempseed and Caroline Thompson
They had 17 children born between 1872 and 1901.
August died 1928 age 82. His wife Catherine died 1916 (

August's parents also died in NZ::
Frederick POPPE died 1897, age 77 (b abt 1820)
Ann Lizzie POPPE died 1897 age 80 (b abt 1817)
Frederick and August both appear on the NZ Electoral Rolls:
* Frederick POPPE, Rangatikei Freehold, Part of Sec 27, Agricultural Reserve
* August POPPE, Marton Freehold, Block 24, fenced in and partly cultivated, German Settlement
Frederick (Freidrich) POPPE: (Native of Prussia - gardener - residence, Rangitikei)was naturalised in NZ in 1861
http://www.shrinkalink.com/engine.phpDo you know where Bertha was buried? If you could find out who the funeral Director was, you could call them and see what records they have on her (surprising how much is still found this way, years later - many of the directors are still in business!). If anything exists in this way, it may include names of relatives (parents, siblings etc etc). The Newspapers - Feilding Star, Manawatu Standard ot Times or Herald) may carry a notice of her death (these were often placed by the Directors)
Cheers
