Welcome to Rootschat, TM.
Hopefully you will find a few answers to your questions but you might want to give a few more clues, if possible.
Firstly, do you know roughly when Jack Maxwell was born? a rough guess would do
Secondly, post a new topic under the Wales board with Jack's name and birth year in the title ie: "Jack Maxwell bxxxx Tonypandy - help needed" and give as much info as possible.

This way, the very clever people will be able to look things up for you on the various census info available (only up to 1901) or direct you to Birth, Marriage & Death sites so you can check those (BMD).  Once you have a birth certificate for Jack, life becomes a little easier!!

Good Luck and dont give up!

Hackett - Black Country
Shakespeare - Birmingham/Middlesex/Leicestershire
Williams & Millington - Denbighshire
Davies - Rhondda/Black Country
Whittle/Bowen - Black Country
Bradshaw - Birmingham
Millard - Cambs
Smith/SQUELCH! - Birmingham
Peart - Yorkshire
and on and on and on.......
