Joseph Forster of Bewcastle c1722

I am researching the Forsters/Foresters/Forresters/Fosters of the Bewcastle area.  I am hoping someone may be able to help with providing a birth date and parents of Joseph Forster born c 1722.  Joseph lived at Oakshaw, Bewcastle and married Elizabeth Hunter in 1774 (he was a widower).  He was buried at Bewcastle in 1784 aged 62.  Elizabeth died at Oakshaw in 1822 aged 69.

I don't know if this quite fits your family - this gravestone inscription and burials were at Stapleton not Bewcastle, but otherwise the family looks as though they may be connected:
Here lyeth the body of Mary FROSTER wife to George FROSTER of Gibshill who departed this life Jany ye 6 AD 1730 aged 48 years. Also the body of George FORRESTER of Bewcastle who departed this life March ye 1 AD 1760 aged 98 years. Also the body of Joseph FORRESTER his son who died at Parkhead Jan – 1784 aged 62 years. Also the body of Joseph’s wife Ann who died at Oakshaw June 10 1774 aged 60 ys. Also Elizabeth his 2nd wife died Feby 2nd 1838 aged 93 years. Also John son of the above Joseph and Elizabeth FORESTER who died at Aglionby June 14th 1864 aged 87 years.

1784 Jan 19 Joseph Forster of Parkhead Bewcastle aged 62 years.

I helped to record these, so I have photos of the stone somewhere if you think its the right family

Thank you so much for the information.  I can't tell you how thrilled I am to finally resolve one of my brick walls.  They are definitely my family.  I would greatly appreciate a copy of the photo if you are able to find it. there's also this Forster gravestone next to it, possibly the wife and family of the John Forster mentioned at the end of the other gravestone?

In memory of Ann wife of John FORSTER Longthwaite who departed this life April 15th 1831 aged 60 years. Also James their son who died December 12th 1830 aged 21 years. Also John their son who died April 26th 1843 aged 26 years. Also Jane second wife of the above John FORSTER who died at Hornsby Gate Decr 10th 1874 aged 62 years.

(Reverse) All you who do our graves survey, prepare yourselves without delay, to meet our Saviour in a smile, you’ve but to wait a little while.

Gravestones are very useful in parishes, like Stapleton, where the parish registers have a lot of gaps - families were often buried in family plots, so noting the adjacent gravestones can often be very helpful.

Yes, they are my family too.  Ann (from the latter inscription) and John Forster (from the first inscription you sent) are my 3 x great grandparents. Their granddaughter Ann and her husband William Armstrong migrated to Australia in 1887.
