Frederick Harding born Camberwell c1877

Please could anyone see if they are able to locate a Frederick Harding in Camberwell b c1877. He is on the 1911 census aged 33 Army Musician, Royal Military College, Sandhurst. b Camberwell married to Kate Bond or Breakspear. I am having difficulty finding information on his whereabouts between his birth and 1911. I know that he was involved in the Boer War for part of that time.

The only Frederick Harding b Camberwell on the 1881 was b 1861

His birth should have been registered in the Camberwell RD and there are 2 1877 births on freebmd but both have middle names

The birth for Frederick Henry can be ruled out as he died in the next qtr 1877 but no death for Frederick Walter

Thanks Carole, Frederick may have a middle name and I am hoping to obtain further details from military records. The earlier birth doesn't quite tally with his age on the census. Do you have any other names or information linked to him?

No - nothing.   No baptism either. 

I wonder if he was illegitimate.  A copy of his marriage cert may show a fathers name

Yes, that's possible. I have not done any research for a while so need to backtrack and look at my records. My original research linked him to Oxfordshire but I did not have a specific place of birth until I found it on the 1911 census at Sandhurst.

Thanks, I think that this was her second marriage and that her first marriage was to Bond from Oxfordshire.

I wouldn't be so sure.  You have the 1911 census which gives her date and place of birth as about 1877 Aldershot.  Her eldest child on the census, Ann Elizabeth, appears to have been born in Ash, Surrey c1903/1904.

Charles BOND may well be a child of a sibling of Kate.

Thanks, Casalguidi. Yes, Ann Elizabeth is my grandmother who married from the College in Ashford. There was a reason why I thought that my great-grandmother, Kate Breakspear, had been married before but I would need to go back over my records. I have not done any research for a while and need to cross-match some archive research and replies to my requests.
