Matthew Scott born c1811 Long Benton
« on: Monday 01 April 13 17:56 BST (UK) »
Matthew Scott married Catherine Hoult 1833 in Newcastle, All Saints.   I think he is the son of James and Elizabeth but was wondering if anyone has access to the marriage register to see who the witnesses are.
Many thanks if you can help.

Thanks for the replies.   I had seen that birth but various online trees show him with a different mother so I am trying to check it for myself and see if the marriage helped.   Realised I forgot to give actual marriage date.  1st July 1833.

Newcastle All Saints records are available via the Bishops Transcripts on Family Search.
Have you looked through those yourself to see if you can find the marriage?
Here's the start of the relevant section
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-14542-15596-91?cc=1309819&wc=MMRX-Y6P:818724977
You will need to trawl through manually - they cannot be searched by keyword.

Sorry that link doesn't give you the box for page numbers etc
Try again from here http://www.rootschat.com/links/0tb6/

Don't try to go forward page by page - there are over 700 pages  ::)
Try going straight to about page 350 then work from there.

Thanks.  Found it on page 384.   Catherine Holt and Matthew Scott are clear and one witness is Jon Pearson I think.  The other is Ann Houilt? or something similar.   Maybe a variant of Holt/Hoult?  I shall hope that she is a sister!
