Hi all,
I'm researching William SHERDEN born circa 1829. He's listed as 12 years old from Liverpool Street, Manchester in the 1841 Census attached. He has a sibling, Bridget SHERDEN born c1831 and his parents, James SHERDEN and Catherine SHERDEN Nee DONOGHUE both born c1791 they listed as being from Ireland.

William married Alice Morris COOKSON on the 21st August, 1854 at The Caths Parish Church, Manchester. Document attached.

William leaves for Australia between 1854 and 1861. I know his wife Alice arrives in Australia on board the British Trident with their new born, Ellen Sherden aged 2 in 1861 as assisted immigrants. In this arrival document that I have attached, it lists her husband as already being in Australia.

I can't find any documents as to William leaving England for Australia, I can't find any other Census documents other than the 1841 Census I have attached I can't find any death records for William's parents, James and Catherine.

Any ideas would be great appreciated.

Thanks so much guys ! Just a quick reply before I get some time. That 1851 Census is bang in the money. Looks like my James Sherden c1791 passes away between 1841 & 1851. Does it state widow on that 1851 census record for Catherine ?

I've previously ordered the Bridget SHERDEN and John COLLINS marriage certificate, I've attached that document, I've never been able to confirm whether this is Bridget SHERDEN, William's brother. Unfortunately in the age column it states 'Full' which doesn't help me.. It lists her father as James which is a match. According to this certificate his occupation is a 'Gardener' on William Sherden's marriage certificate from 1854 he is listed as a bricklayer. The 1841 census list him as a 'Laborer'. On William Sherden's death certificate (1868 - Australia) he also listed as a 'Laborer'. I've attached that death certificate.

I haven't been able to find any census or death records for Bridget COLLINS Nee SHERDEN that make think that it is the correct Bridget SHERDEN that married John COLLINS.
