Picture from the past for restoration, Please
« on: Sunday 31 March 13 14:14 BST (UK) »
Hi there

A First Cousin I never knew I had until 3 years ago, recently sent me a picture taken I think in the 1890's  of her Grandmother Charlotte; - Charlotte is also my grandmother, (although granddad and her never married legally) and i would appreciate any help in restoring this picture as its the only one I have of her. She died in 1948.  It might also look good in colour if that is not to much trouble.

Thank you for your time and trouble, and I look forward to the results

Hi there restorers

Well, dosen't that look different - wow ;D

I think it will take a while to get used to the coloured version - somehow it didnt come out like I thought or imagined it would - but I suppose it will grow on me.  Grandma died when i was 6 and she was in her 80's - so the pictures in my memory are of an old lady sitting by the fire with her snuff cloth in her hand and a jug of beer by her side.  I do like it though.
Thanks to you both for a very quick response
I appreciate it

Japelakes

Thankyou for that - I like her face much better.

Unfortunately the body looks like it is growing out of a toadstall though - not nice at all

But I do appreciate your kind response and efforts

Japelakes

The picture you have added in the round frame is much much better other than her Left Arm.  The Right arm is OK, but the Left starts ok at the shoulder but then just gets wider and wider towards the wrist.  Could you fahion that to look like the other arm please

Unfortunately there was very little to work with on this photo  ...it was really  very badly pixelated and a tiny file size and appears to have been compressed too . If the person who sent it to you Chris , has the actual photo I would suggest you ask them to scan it at 300 ppi and send you the large uncompressed version of it .If you do get a better scan please don't hesitate to get in touch again. This is the best I can do with such a small file I'm afraid  .
