Baptism: Arthuret Parish records 10 Sep 1738
James, son of James & Mary Tinning of Oakshawhill.

1738/09/10 1738 Bapt. TINING James son of James of Oakshawhill & Mary his wife 85 BT

Marriage: Arthuret Parish records,15 Jul 1766
James Tinning & Jane Wilson

There were two James Tinnings marrying at the same time both marrying Janes.
1766 Jul 15  James Tinning & Jane Wilson
1767 Aug 03  James Tinning & Jane Graham

As the baptism of Elizabeth dau of James & Jane of Chapeltown shows Jane's maiden name as Graham (14 Aug 1791)
It must be presumed that Jane, wife of James of Oakshawhill, maiden name was Wilson

I have Richard Doss to thank for this information.

Thanks for this Anne...I will go back to my notes and take another look.

Anne...you may be the lady who started a thread on Ancestry's message boards on the Tinnnings??  Are you Anne Hollingshead?

Right, apologies if I'm overlooking the obvious :

1766 15 Jul - James Tinning m Jane Wilson
1767 3 Aug - James Tinning m Jane Graham

So possible children of these two couples:

1768 25 May - Mary Tinning Baptised
6 Sept - James Tinning Baptised

1769 20 Dec - John Tinning Baptised

1770 28 Jan - John Tinning Baptised
4 Mar - James Tinning Baptised

1772 12 Jul - Mary Tinning Baptised
25 Nov - Elizabeth Tinning Baptised

1775 30 Jan - John Tinning Baptised

1777 27 Apr - Reginald Tinning Baptised

1778 9 Nov - William Tinning Baptised

1779 28 Mar - Jane Tinning Baptised

1782 6 May - Jane Tinning Baptised

1785 1 Mar - David Tinning Baptised

1791 14 Aug - Elizabeth Tining Baptised (Jane Graham)

So...if "my" Mary Tinning was the one born in 1768 (which would fit with dates), then the one bapt 12 Jul 1772 would more likely be the child of the "other" James & Jane.  And, the Elizabeth bap on 25 Nov 1772 is more likely to be "my" James & Jane???

So...wouldnt the Elizabeth bapt in 1791 with the mother Jane Graham be more likely to be the "other" James & Jane?  ie Is my Jane, Jane Wilson?    I suppose if the above Elizabeth born in 1772 died then they would very likely give her name to another child.  But, and I may be wrong, I dont think I've found a death for this Elizabeth before 1791.

Yes I did start a thread many years ago I think. Still interested in either Oakshawhill or Chappeltown/Easton Hills Tinnings and quite a few more.

Also interested in any that came to Australia.
