Looking for information about Darby Dowd (also known as Jeremiah O'Dowd) who emigrated to Australia in 1840 on the Elprhinstone.
He was recorded as being 35 years old Labourer from Roscommon - he had three children with him - Patrick 8, John 5 and Eliza 10. Ellen (maiden name believed to be Regan) his wife died on the voyage.

Unfortunately your search is very early and much before civil records so you would be looking to Parish records- if any existed. Here are some tips:
