My sister checked what she had found and there is no Rose on our part of the family tree.   His ancestry is certainly deep in the Trawden area of Lancashire

From the IGI:

Hi,  I too am trying to trace my husbands ancestors & would like to find any living relatives. My husband is Stephen M.Bannister. His fathers name was Rennie & Rennies fathers name was Hartley. I then believe that Hartley's fathers name was Matthew & his fathers name could of been John? All born in Colne. Any help would be appreciated.  :)

Christening of John Bannister, 7 November 1813, St Bartholemew's, Colne, Lancs
Father: John Bannister
Mother: Martha

Not sure about this one - might be a little early!

cheers
Paul

I believe there's a Colne local History / genealogy group, perhaps you could contact them through Colne library? There's also the Lancashire Parish Clerks online site, which is really superb. Local (Nelson, Burnley,Pendle Colne) newspapers ,may be useful sources as well as libraries.
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
