BISSELL baptism and burial places Aston and Birmingham 1880s/1890s
« on: Sunday 24 March 13 18:22 GMT (UK) »
Visiting Birmingham yesterday for a meeting made me think that although I have birth and death dates for my BISSELL ancestors with Birmingham connections I don't know where they are buried or would have been baptised.

Sarah Ann BISSELL died 8th November 1887, the family appear to have been living at 42 Bloomsbury Street, Aston at the time - can anyone suggest where she might have been buried?

Benjamin Samuel (sometimes Samual Benjamin) BISSELL died in Birmingham General Hospital in January 1890 as a result of an industrial accident on New Street Station. I'm not sure if he was still living in Bloomsbury Street at the time or had moved to live with his son and his wife in Railway Terrace in Dudddeston.

Minnie Ruth BISSELL was born at Railway Terrace in Duddeston on 13th March 1889 - where might she have been baptised? Her parents were married in 1888 at Bishop Ryder's Church.

As far as I'm aware they were all CofE.

Thanks for any pointers as to what Church records to look at.

Most people by this time were buried at one of the Corporation cemeteries.
Witton was the biggest & served the Aston area.
You can contact them directly & ask.

Hi
You could try St James the less church, Barrack St, Dudderston, I had relatives who lived in Railway Terrace ( later I believe changed to Lawford st )
I had a number of relatives who lived in Railway Terrace and St James Place , Dudderston who were baptized there as it's just across the road from what was Railway Terrace.

The Railway Terrace might be the one in Nechells, in which case St Matthews, Duddeston, might be worth a look. There's a John BISSELL age 1 buried in St Saviour's Church, Saltley, on 12 Dec 1877, and the address for him is Railway Terrace, Nechells.
