CANDY family of Somerset
« on: Sunday 24 March 13 02:34 GMT (UK) »
I am seeking information regarding a Samuel Candy who was born in Frome, Somerset in 1751 and died in Tennessee US in 1837.
He married Catherine Candy Kingfisher (Cherokee) in 1767 in the US
I would really like to find out more about Samuel Candy before he left England. I know nothing of his parents or brothers and sisters .
If anyone has any information I would be very grateful for some help.
Philip Candy

Dont know if I can be of any help.  I have ancestors from the Frome area in Somerset.  The surnames are Ball and Parfitt.  My 5x grandfather Thomas Ball's mother was Kimbera Candy.  She was born abt 1703.  Maybe she is connected to your Candy family.  Thomas Ball lived in Cloford which is very close to Frome.  You can look up Cloford parish records on the internet and there are quite a few Candys mentioned.
Good luck!

Dear Phil,

It has been some time since I have seen your name and as I was using Google to get information your name came up on this Rootschat.com. I remember the help you gave me in getting started on my Family Tree a few years ago when I was living in Adelaide and then moved to Townsville. Since then I have put together a great number of connections. I realise some of them may be incorrect or the information may be debatable between differing sources. However I would like to send you a GEDCOM file of my current information if it is of any help to you . Lately I have got sidetracked on My Heritage Family Tree Builder site to an American Branch of the family. If you are able any help or any feedback after seeing my files would be appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi John
I am writing to you at the request of my husband, Philip Candy who was delighted to receive your communication re the Candy Family this morning.
Unfortunately, Phil had a severe stroke 3 years ago, and is unable to write this himself. He cannot speak, but he remains passionate about family history research and spends a great deal of time looking at family history websites, and trying to access his own substantial body of research. He would love to see your GEDCOM files, however under the circumstances, it is uncertain whether he can be of any assistance, but we will try to see if he can add anything for you. :-)
He will look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes
Mary-Anne and Phil Candy

Nice to hear from you Mary-Anne,

Sorry to hear of Phil's health but delighted to hear that he is still active. Despite the heading below of "Attachments and other options" I can't work out how to attach a file to send. Are you able to help. Otherwise you could send an email to me at whitestarhaven@gmail.com and I could send it through that way.

Regards
