Frederick George ROBERTS
« on: Sunday 17 March 13 15:51 GMT (UK) »
I am researching my family and have come up against a brickwall for this person, who was born in Crewe, Cheshire in 1918.
After then all I know definitely is that he left Southampton on 5 October 1946 aboard the Winchester Castle bound for Durban. Next I know he was granted a Certificate of Naturalisation dated 24 October 1956. At the time he was a linotype operator but I do not know where.
I know he married and I believe had 3 or 4 children. Who and where he married, and presumably died, details of the children or where they lived, I do not know.
Would appreciate any assistance.
David

Hi Linotype operators would have worked most likely in newspapers. I would look up the Natal Mercury or the Daily News Durban and email them to see if they have any records. The only other places I can think of where he may have worked in printing would be Republican Press or Hayne and Gibson, not sure if they still operate.
