Martin Forster - help with this mystery please
« on: Saturday 16 March 13 14:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi All hope someone will be able to help solve my problem with my Martin Forster b abt 1823. I can't seen to find him on any census record after 1841 when he was living with his father and step mother.

I have a baptism record for 1823 in the chapelry of Haydon, Northumberland Martin son of James and Elizabeth Abode: Talkin, Cumberland

I have his marriage record 1842 to Mary Ann Dawson. His name appears on the baptism records that i have found for children James b 1847 Hexham, John b 1850 Middlesborough [don't have any baptism info], Richard b 1855 Hexham and his daughter Elizabeth birth certificate.  His occupation stated on all is iron moulder or moulder

I have found census records in:
1851  Hexham for a Mary married moulders wife with sons James 4 and John 1 [no mention of a husband]
1861 Haugh Lane Hexham Mary 39 married living with James 14, John 11, Richard 6 & Elizabeth 2. [Elizabeth was born at Haugh Lane]
1871 Jarrow, Durham Mary Ann Forster Widower 50 with James 24 Iron Moulder, Elizabeth 12, Thomas 8 & Ann Jane 3.
1881 Jarrow Durrham Mary Ann Foster 60 widower she had 3 boarders living with her at the time all moulders
1891  6 Ipswich Road, Shoreditch, London, England Mary Ann Forster 72 Widow living with her daughter Elizabeth 31 & husband Arthur Lee [glass cutter]& family

It seems very strange that there are none for Martin and no death records either [died before the census in 1871]  ???

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions will be very welcome

wow thank you Suz  ;D

I will have a look at that one. Blacksmiths and now  iron moulders traveled around a lot  looking for work. Will have to see if I can find him on the 1861 census. :)

Many thanks again for your help on this
