Although not as old as you were requesting, the Swindon & District Directory of 1952 - 53 has an excellent map at the end ( scale 4.5 inches to the mile ) showing all the street names many of which date back to the time of interest to you. These directories appeared annually and some earlier ones showed occupants street by street. Toby.

Just to see we have an extensive map collection for Swindon - including the fantastic 1:500 1886 survey and many others.
We also have a very good street index, including all known street names and those renamed/demolished etc.
