Poosie Nansie & Black Geordie Gibson of Mauchline 1745 - 1798
« on: Tuesday 12 March 13 15:00 GMT (UK) »
Poosie Nansie [Agnes Ronald] & Black Geordie Gibson of Burns poem "The Jolly Beggars" had three children. Eldest was William, baptized 1746 in Mauchline, then Janet [Racer Jess/the hav'rel Jenny] baptized 1748 in Sorn, and 'Unnamed son' [John/Jockie] baptized 1751 in Mauchline who took over Poosie Nansie's Inn in 1788. They may have had another son, George, baptized 1755 in Mauchline.

Does anyone have any information on what happened to William, please ?

His father Geordie was 'taylor of Mauchline' by trade before the boardinghouse/Inn was started in 1784.

Thanks for any help.
