William and Frances Wykes
« on: Sunday 10 March 13 16:57 GMT (UK) »
William Wykes born 1709 married Frances Nutt 16 October 1731 I think at Sheepy Magna, Leicestershire.  Frances died 1768 at Sibson and William the following year in 1769.  Can anyone give me any information about either of these people?  Many thanks.

Hi there,

Think this is Frances.
Frances Nutt christened 2nd July    1708 Magna parents Will and Dorothy
William Nutt       "          17th Jan   1710                     "            "
Catharine                      10th June 1714                           "

Do you know William and Frances children I found a few all born Sheepy
Catherine  12th Sept 1733
Hannah     27th Feb  1734
William    6th Jan 1736
Francis   21st April 1738
think these are theirs as well
Thomas   1740
Another William 1755 so maybe the first William died.

You can find the children on the IGI for Leicestershire

Thank you for all your help.  A new piece of information I have been told is that William and Frances had a child John born Sibson 1741.  John married Mary Hefield in 1766 and he died 1822 in Groby.  I am not sure now whether I was on the right lines with Frances Nutt.  Johns parents were William Wykes and Frances??? William being born in 1709 and he died in 1769 in Sibson.  Does anyone have any information that may support this new line of thought?

Hi Flossie,

They did have a John and when I look at my paperwork I did write a John
christened 11th January 1742 parents William and Frances, I missed him off
the list I put on here, sorry my fault.
He died 1822 as you mentioned  and christened in Sibson.  Sibson is only 2 miles
from Sheepy Magna so they might have moved after the first few children.

When you say you dont know if you are on the right line with Frances Nutt,
she looks a fair candidate.  I have not as yet found their marriage.

Second Nutts Close 2 acres 2 roods 8 perches
Nutts Pasture 6 acres 2 roods 33 perches
