Hi,

No, James George Dodd married Ellen Buckley (widow) nee Simpson in Dec qt 1891, he didn't waste much time.

Just looked at Lancashire BMD & Find MY Past for a marriage between Elizabeth Trotter to a Dodd and there isn't one.

The fact that the death registration for George Dodd's son indicated that his father was born in Manchester and this George married and lived in the Verona area in the early 1900s does seem to tie him into the one you're looking for but there are many coincidences in names and locations for people.  It would be nice to be able to find George James Dodd later in life.

A family tree on ancestry indicates that Ila Irene Dodd married 17 June 1929 to Carl Johan Peter de Neergaard but no location given.  Their family consisted of 2 boys and 3 girls.  Voters lists show a Sylvester Dodd with wife Velma retired and living in Matheson, Ontario (Cochrane district of northern Ontario).  No way of knowing if this is the other son of George.

Yes I agree, it would be good to find George later in life, may be he left Canada after his children married.

Are the Canadian Birth Marrriage and Death records indexed as in England ?

Thanks for the extra info about his children, I don't have access to ancestry but will take a look at the Family search site again.

BMDs in Canada are not centrally indexed.  They are registered within the province that the event occurred in and because of privacy laws each province handles the release of information separately.  Generally births are protected for 100 years, marriages 70-80 and deaths 70-80.  British Columbia seems to be the one province that releases death registrations up to a more recent date.  Finding information on people who died between 1950-2000 is probably the most challenging.  On the plus side the 1921 census is due to be transferred to Library Archives Canada and once it is indexed/filmed it will be made available.  Perhaps that will give some clues as to whether or not this George Dodd is the one you're looking for.

Hi Cosmac,

Will look forward to the 1921 census release.

I thought I had reached the limit on my Dodd family, but as more and more records have become available I decided to have another look, and I am glad I did, as I have learnt so much more about the family.
It has been an interesting journey finding out about George, as I had not heard about the so called 'Home Children'.

Thank you for all your help, I am very grateful.

George Dodds was born in England according to the original post. Can you please explain clearly what the record you posted refers to.

I asked if you would explain your previous post but all you have done is repeated the names and numbers  :-\

Please read the original post at the start of this thread-
George Dodd was born 1883 in Manchester.
As one of the 'Home Children' he was sent from a children's home in Manchester England, to the Marchmont Children's Home, Ontario Canada in 1895...
