Thank you so much. A cousin of my wife's in Ireland has confirmed that Patrick Tierney lived in Groomsport Street, she didn't know about Sarah Street. I'll follow that up and also the Fermanagh connection. Thanks again for your help.

Hello. I am new to this thread. I have information about the family of Edward Tierney's wife, Alice Josephine O'Loughlin.  She was born about 1851 near Florencecourt, Fermanagh to Stephen and Alice (McManus) Loughlin. They operated a school at Mullaghbane near Blacklion. Alice Josephine's older sister, Catherine Julia O'Loughlin, was trained to be a teacher and in 1853 came to Newtownards, Down to become Head School Mistress at the Ann Street National School.  She married Robert Francis Magee.  Alice Josephine had an older brother, Thomas O'Loughlin, who ran a school at Cornagee in Fermanagh. Descendants of Thomas still live near Cornagee.  Alice Josephine also had an older sister, Eleanor Loughlin, who at age 22, emigrated to the U.S. by herself and carried her recently acquired teacher's certificate.  I am a descendant of Eleanor.  Stephen Loughlin died in 1858.  His wife, Alice, and their younger children immigrated to Kent County, Michigan to live near her daughter, Eleanor, and her sisters.
I recently learned about my family's connection to Catherine Julia O'Loughlin and Alice Josephine O'Loughlin through DNA.  Further information about the family can be found on my ancestry.com tree.
