Hi,
I am nearly sure that the correct number is 32 A3 West (W) The north section is broken into lower and upper, both, but particularly the upper section is irregular in shape and the columns do not always start with the letter ‘A’ Working off Jamie Moran’s book on Deansgrange Cemetery the nearest identifiably headstone in the ‘3’ section is that of Michael Fitzgerald whose headstone, which is of the very recognizable CWGC type is 88 G3 N and it is only three graves in from the footpath separating the North and St Mary’s section. Not all the graves are numbered but I did find a ‘D’ further down but no A, B or C.
If you do visit, Grave number 32 A3 W can be located as follows
Enter the cemetery through the ‘Office Gate’ as shown on the map below. Continue up the road and turn left between the South West and West sections. Take the second right. Continue up that path for approximately 70 graves until you reach another CWGC marker in memory of William Joyce on your right hand side. Four graves beyond this and approximately 7 in you will find the Farrell grave. It is three graves back from an enormous tree. The nearest to it is numbered 30 A3 W and erected to the memory of Annie Graham. The second is not numbered and bears the name Joseph Garland. Your GGrandparents’ grave is situated just below the letter ‘s’ in the word West on the map attached to the excellent IGP site
Cemetery MapI will try check the Deansgrange registers over the next few days and let you know if I find out anything different. In the meantime maybe someone here might be able to throw some light on the 32 A3 North issue.
Good luck with your search.
John.
