Can anyone find Mary Ann in 1871 please?
« on: Saturday 09 March 13 14:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Can anyone see Mary Ann Hague/Haigh in 1871 please?  She was widowed in 1866 and should have two sons with her - Edward born in 1861 and Reuben born in 1863, both in Manchester.  Mary Ann was born in Northwich, Cheshire.

Here last known address prior to the 1871 census was 44 Bridgewater Street (January 1867).

She married three times:-
to George Hague/Haigh in 1861;
to Thomas Boocock/Bowcock in 1875;
to Samuel Holland in 1877;

I have her in 1881 at 9 Dunn Street, Hulme and in 1891 at 32 Leinster Street Hulme, with her 3rd husband, Samuel.

Thank you.

Luzzu  :)

At her marriage to George Hague in 1861, Mary Ann Wilkinson was aged 24 - so born c1837

I forgot to mention that it was a split household the other family were Phillips. One of their boarders was an unmarried James Wilkinson aged 38, Slater also born Northwich.  Did Mary Ann have a brother James or is this just a coincidence?

Hi,

Thanks everyone for helping.  That definitely looks like them at 73 Back Piccadilly.  Mary Ann did have a brother called James Wilkinson who was born in 1824.

Not sure about who James Hall might be because she married Thomas Boocock/Bowcock as Mary Ann Hague, widow  ???.

I have only just begun to look at Thomas Boocock/Bowcock but his father was Benjamin and I think this is the marriage of his parents:-

Benjamin Boocock/Betsey Briggs
Manchester Cathedral
12 Jul 1830

Thomas was a widower when he married Mary Ann Hague.

He wasn't married to Mary Ann for very long.  They married on 22 Nov 1875 and he died 3rd qtr 1876 registered in the name of Bowcock (I think).
