I just found one reference to it and thought it might be online, but I couldn't find how to access it. Here is the exact reference:

KENNEFICK, John; Carrigrohane COR IRL; Cork Examiner; 1896-2-29; dja

OK, now that is good news. A year or so ago I had a similar reference and contacted the Examiner archives office. they were kind enough to post me a copy of the obituarys for the day in question and hey presto, my man was there. Good news for me, but bad news for the guy who had died in 1898!

I'll have to check that possibility. People here are amazing with all the generous leads I've been given. Now I have to get my search skills up to snuff.

These are wonderful. I found each of the records and copied the church records. The one child I haven't yet found for Ellen and Cornelius is Margaret Riley, who is my 2nd great-grandmother said to be born in Clonakilty and married John Kennefick. But I feel I am on the trail.

Oh Louise... thank you! Those are my Edward and Margaret. I am sure they must be. I have to study up on how to use Ancestry. com. I've been subscribed for a long time but never had found this despite many searches. So lovely to find them.

I found the record of my great-grandparents' marriage on Ancestry. What a goldmine! I can't thank you enough. It shows their occupations and confirms their birth dates, parents, and national origins.

I have searched for a record for your 2nd Great Grandmother Margaret but it doesn't seem to come up but it could possibly be there just not sticking out!
