Whatever happened to Great Great Uncle Ernest A V Whitbread?
« on: Wednesday 06 March 13 22:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone
I am trying to find an elusive ancestor of mine Ernest Albert Victor Whitbread that I have been searching for the last 3 years to no avail :'(. I know he was sent to Canada from Windsor, Berkshire, England by Barnados and arrived on the Labrador on October 2nd 1897 arriving in Quebec en route to Ontario, and that is the last thing I have found out  :(. 2 of his brothers namely George and Samuel I have been able to find their marriages and George's death in 1989. It is just Ernest.
Any help anyone can give would be sooo appreciated :)
Thank you in advance

Hi again,

Possibly your Samuel?

Have you tried to find obituaries for Samuel and George?  They might mention brother Ernest?

RK :)

Hi Runkitty :)
Thank you for your reply.
Yes the death notice is my Samuel as the card of thanks is from his brother George and George's wife Mabel. :)
Also the newspaper cutting from the Stouffville Tribune dated 26th Jan 1967 is definitely Ernest.:)
The other 2 are a maybe as they do seem to point to my Ernest.
At least now I can try and search for him in Stouffville.
Thank you so much for this.
Kind regards
Snazzyshazzy :)

Here is Ernest in the 1911 Census living in Uxbridge, he is only transcribed as "Ernest" but when you look at the original you can see Whitbread.

I have a bit of information about Ernest Whitbread, BHC, lived in Uxbridge, Ontario Canada.  The information comes from a lady who was a neighbour as a child of Ernest Whitbread.  Her father looked out for Ernie.  He is buried in Uxbridge Cemetery.  I could possibly get you a photo of his stone if you would like.

Hi Krazy Kat... and welcome to Rootschat!!

Super find re: the Uxbridge Cemetery.  :)

The Uxbridge library has some photos of cemetery stones..

I checked, and they have a photo of Ernest's stone in the Uxbridge Cemetery.  Here is a link to the photo
