I'll see if I can find Edward's death notice and with a bit of luck it will say he was step father to various Matthews children.  I'll also see if I can find possible marriages for the children and spouses named in Florence May Boyd's death notice.

Aha found Edward's death notice (Joseph Edward Boyd) and he died in 21 Dec 1965, late of Ryde.  He was the loved husband of Florence, loved father of 2 and fond stepfather of 3.  He was also in AIF so can find his service details on naa.gov.au
