Hi looking for arther elliot matthews  born 1903 in durham got on a ship in london to melboune in 1923 married Florence may hunter in 1937 in australia dissapeared off the face of the earth never to be found again in his  early 40s,

On the other topic I found a possible Arthur Matthews which is not to say he's the one you are looking for- index gives name as Arthur Matthews not Arthur Elliot Matthews. Please note spelling of Arthur as searching for Arther may explain why you haven't found more information yet.

Added- other topic says Arthur married in 1936. If you are asking for help finding him in Australia it would help if you could give us an idea of where he was married and last located since each state keeps its own vital records.

Can't see them after that - there are a couple of women of the same name but cannot be sure which may be her.

You can see both houses on Googlemap - they would cost an arm and a leg to buy/rent now.

I did check the death notice for the Florence May Matthews who died on 7 aug 1964 and she is not the correct one (wife of Ernest)

However there is another possible death of a Florence May Matthews in 1960 at Newcastle 24721/1960 with parents David and Henrietta.  Do you know her parents names?

Also a possible remarriage? 1957 of a Florence May Matthews to Edward Boyd reg 8706/1957 in Sydney http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/

Then there is a death in 14 Jan 1983 of a Florence May Boyd (Midge) late of Ryde, aged 64 who was the wife of Edward (deceased) and mother and grandmother - can pm the names but I guess this is a long shot as not unusual names  http://ryersonindex.net/search.php

Ros, I think the Newcastle death may be a Florence May MATTHEWS who is on ERs at Tighes Hil (Newcastle) for many years.  I noticed her a few times in looking for this Florence.
