The other comment I meant to post was about the "you may be an heir" bit - in the end credits it has Bona Vacantia correct as at May 2012. Couldn't either a more up to date version be inserted or at least a check done to see whether the names were still on the list, a bit nearer to the time of first broadcast than 10 months ago?

I found the art case today interesting - ties in with some of the material that was on the Fake or Fortune programmes (Fiona Bruce & Philip Mould) IIRC.

One thing puzzled me on todays was when the chap at Fraziers said there was a note on the census
which pointed him to information about the family?? I have never seen any notes like that...unless
it was something that Fraziers had put previously....are you out there Neil?

I've now watched the first four programmes in this series. My impression is that the amount of repetition has increased (clip of what's coming, shown in full, reminder when we get back to that case) even over previous series - something I find very irritating. As I record to watch later I try to catch the repeat bits & fast forward but don't manage them all.

We've stopped recording them now as the amount of repetition is OTT.   It's not just Heir Hunters - lots of programmes are doing the same thing.

Harry - I agree it's the same with many programmes, such that it's got to the stage that most programmes we watch we record & much use is made of the "skip" & "fast forward" buttons to eliminate the ads & repetitions as far as we can

Hi - this series is NEW - it has not been shown before - we completed it in May and the BBc have been sitting on it. We check the names with BV right up to when we finish the show.

we do try to keep it to a minimum to be honest - but it's something the broadcasters like - as you will see on other shows - when we split the stories - it does help to have a quick reminder as some of the cases can be quite complex.

we will take you notes on board and cut it as far back as we can in future.

On Wednesday's programme featuring the Carson/Browne/Sharp families researcher Saul Marks said that he thought Thomas Carson and Mary Browne, both originally from Ireland, had married in Liverpool. They married on 27 Feb 1889 at St. Alban's RC church in Liverpool. The fathers' names were James Carson and John Browne. Witnesses were Thomas Burns and Mary Jane Gilfoyle.

Further to my comments above I'm surprised the programme didn't cover the St. Alban's marriage was this because visuals of St. Patrick's church would be a better representation of Liverpool Irish settlement? St. Alban's still stands but is no longer used as a church but it would have been nice to see it on TV.

I didn't suggest the series wasn't "new". If the BBC have "sat on" this series for 10 months I'd suggest omitting the segment in any future series - you could still incorporate a bit about the BV & equivalent sites but without specific cases perhaps.

Blue - I don't know Liverpool well enough to recognise areas, but do know Manchester & recognise some of the bits with Hector from Celtic Research which IIRC were shown again when the case wasn't there - recycling?
