Tomorrow a Celebrity Special!

Heir Hunters finally solve a 20 year old case and along the way reveal the story of a heroic pilot in the family who died in the final days of WW2. And when BBC weatherman Michael Fish learns he is the heir to an unclaimed estate he goes on a journey of discovery through his family history. Plus details of estates for which heirs still need to be found, could you be an heir?

Have just watched today's (Tuesday) episode on iplayer. Thought it was thoroughly absorbing.  I like the balance between the presentation of the genealogy and the human stories that emerge in the course of the research.  So sad about the heroic pilot, after all his flights over Germany and then meeting his end flying the plane back to base  .  Michael Fish's ancestral story was intriguing too - I had to rewind and watch again to get to grips with who married who when and who had which children!  :o ;D      I have one or two similar tangled webs in my own family history  ::)

Nice to see how other heir hunters, apart from Fraser & Fraser, work too.  Great stuff!   I look forward to future episodes.

On Wednesday's programme featuring the Carson/Browne/Sharp families researcher Saul Marks said that he thought Thomas Carson and Mary Browne, both originally from Ireland, had married in Liverpool. They married on 27 Feb 1889 at St. Alban's RC church in Liverpool. The fathers' names were James Carson and John Browne. Witnesses were Thomas Burns and Mary Jane Gilfoyle.

I've now watched the first four programmes in this series. My impression is that the amount of repetition has increased (clip of what's coming, shown in full, reminder when we get back to that case) even over previous series - something I find very irritating. As I record to watch later I try to catch the repeat bits & fast forward but don't manage them all.

The "additional" material varies in interest to me - I found today's pigeon keeping/racing more than enough, but appreciate a fancier may have been fascinated by it. Yesterday's story of the man who married U S Grant's daughter was more of interest to me.

Myself and OH completely agree with mshmrh comments.  Additionally, we look forward to seeing more of the guys out on the road, Ewart, Bob, Paul, Dave, etc.  Jazgran

Personally, I don't think the repeat clips are too intrusive.  I appreciate the 'reminder' clip when they return to the first case, it's sometimes easy to get the cases muddled if they are particularly complex - or maybe it's just my poor memory!  I'd like to see more of the guys on the road too but it seems that they are all (at least at Fraser & Fraser) getting a bit fed up with the cameras being around - according to Neil Fraser who commented on another thread here recently - maybe that's the reason for not showing the researchers out on the road quite so much as before.  Perhaps we could see more of the other research companies' work instead then, if the Fraser & Fraser staff have had enough!  ::)

I think they are showing more of other companies this time, and I like the history side really interesting, but it is at the expense of how they do the research.
I would be sad to see it og but from Frasier & Frasiers staff point of view I can see how having cameras watching your every move for quite a long time 7 series worth it must get a bit over powering at times.
