Hi Mike

thanks for the info regarding this site and also the info on the Patchetts.

My grandmother's name was Sarah Alice Jordan. It was her mother who was Catherine Patchett. I think I found her on the 1861 census as follows

Elly Carrington h widow 72 Willoughby Lincs
Elly Patchett    d             43 Rossbye Lincs
Catherine Patchett g/d     8  Muston

but I don't have resources to go back any further. One of Catherine's sons was called John Carrington Jordan, so I presume he was named after his grandmother???

thanks again   Jenny

Hi Mike

You are fanstastic - if any of your family came to New Zealand let me know.
I am going to study what you have sent today and get back to you.
I decided that John as in that family as the info was very close.

And I matched them up to me.

And those are definitely my grandparents way back - Joseph and Catherine - they must have been very sad when their boys all took off to NZ.  Do you live in Muston? So now I have new aunties and uncles I did not have before. and a couple of dates that I didnt have either.

thanks heaps once again.

Debbie in New Zealand

Hello Jenny

Mike has forwarded me on your message about Catherine Patchett.  One of my grandmothers way back was Cather Ward or West who married a Joseph Patchett so now with your addition I think we have another branch that I have yet to follow through with.  My Patchetts come from Muston too so we must be linked.  Tell me more if you can as I am very interested in keeping up with you.  I have also forwarded on to you my reply to Mike so that you can be kept up to date with me.

Isnt this great to find out all of this information.

So Hello cousin from New Zealand!!!

There are a few transcripts concerning PRACHET on my website, just type pratchet in the site search engine.
They include the following -
About three years since, this examinate removed thence to Stathorne, where she now dwelt. Upon a difference betweene the said Willimot and the wife of John Patchett, of the said Stathorne, yeoman, shee the said Willimot called her this examinate to goe and touch the said John Pratchet's wife and her Childe, which shee did, touching the said John Patchet's wife in her bed, and the childe in the grace wife's armes, and then sent her said spirits to bewitch thenm to death, which they did, and so the woman lay languishing by the space of a moneth and more, for then shee dyed ; the childe dyed the next day after she touched it.
Cheers
Guy

Debbie
thanks for getting in touch. I know very little about the Patchetts as I have only recently bought my grandmother's birth certificate.
Her name was Sarah Alice Jordan and she married James Peter Beatson.
I found out that her father was called Robert Jordan and that her mother was Catherine Patchett. I am from Sheffield and I found them living here in 1901 but earlier years shows them in Nottinghamshire.
By guessing Catherine's age in 1861 I found the family I listed earlier, but am not sure if this is the correct one. I expect so, as I couldn't find another Catherine Patchett from Muston.
Hope we have some connection, as I have found a long lost relative of my husband's in Australia. Let me know your thoughts

Hi Jenny
My Catherine and Joseph Patchett didnt have a child called Catherine but that doesnt mean anything as there may be other children I dont have yet.  Also I dont actually have a Catherine Patchett as such yet either, however, I am going to keep searching as my Patchetts all came from Muston and surrounding areas and there must be the link there.
How much is it to buy certificates over there as I need to get some and maybe I could get you to get them for me and just send you the money.
Let me know.  Is it something that can be done online I wonder because in my country and in Australia if you do it online they offer a huge discount.  Dont know why as they dont email it they still send it snailmail.  But it is a good $10 cheaper I am finding.
Love talking to you.
Debbie

Debbie

Just read your reply and I have just bought a certificate on line. Go to www.gro.gov.uk

It was a really efficient service, better than my own register office!

Good luck in your research

Catherine Ward had an older son Richard who was born before she married Joseph Patchett.
He is my husband's 3 x gt grandfather.
Catherine's family can be traced back a few more generations in Croxton Kerrial.
