Hello Mike from Leicester

I am very grateful for that information about my ancestors - a couple of them I recognise I think - I have a Joseph DOB 1787 and a Catherine DOB 1788 with 2 sons John DOB 1817 and Joseph DOB 1827 which could match up with your first family although the parents came from Croxton Keyrial - is that near Muston?

John was born in Muston and he came to New Zealand with his wife Elizabeth Dring - one of their children is Reuben who is my grandfather.

Are you a Patchet by any chance????

Will work on this and the others and get back to you.

Thanks heaps.

You are fanstastic - if any of your family came to New Zealand let me know.
I am going to study what you have sent today and get back to you.
I decided that John as in that family as the info was very close.

And I matched them up to me.

And those are definitely my grandparents way back - Joseph and Catherine - they must have been very sad when their boys all took off to NZ.  Do you live in Muston? So now I have new aunties and uncles I did not have before. and a couple of dates that I didnt have either.

thanks heaps once again.

Debbie

Hello Mike
Exciting news!!
I have Chambers in my family as well it seems only not those dates - I have recordings of late 1600s so Elizabeth Patchett must have been staying with relatives or viceversa.

Apparently Joseph died in 1861 so must have been before the Census came out and John and family must have moved in with Catherine to help support her and Elizabeth had her family  3 doors down obviously, William being her brother.
Reubens dad John arrived in NZ in 1877

The George Hodson family came out here around the same time from Muston

One of my Patchetts married a Silverwood

So there are heaps of lines to go through - I will try to see if I can get hold of an 1861 census here to follow all of this up - it is so addictive this hobby isnt it???

Debbie

Hi Mike

thanks for the info regarding this site and also the info on the Patchetts.

My grandmother's name was Sarah Alice Jordan. It was her mother who was Catherine Patchett. I think I found her on the 1861 census as follows

Elly Carrington h widow 72 Willoughby Lincs
Elly Patchett    d             43 Rossbye Lincs
Catherine Patchett g/d     8  Muston

but I don't have resources to go back any further. One of Catherine's sons was called John Carrington Jordan, so I presume he was named after his grandmother???

thanks again   Jenny

There are a few transcripts concerning PRACHET on my website, just type pratchet in the site search engine.
They include the following -
About three years since, this examinate removed thence to Stathorne, where she now dwelt. Upon a difference betweene the said Willimot and the wife of John Patchett, of the said Stathorne, yeoman, shee the said Willimot called her this examinate to goe and touch the said John Pratchet's wife and her Childe, which shee did, touching the said John Patchet's wife in her bed, and the childe in the grace wife's armes, and then sent her said spirits to bewitch thenm to death, which they did, and so the woman lay languishing by the space of a moneth and more, for then shee dyed ; the childe dyed the next day after she touched it.
Cheers
