On a sadder note my beloved dad died on my wedding anniversary.  We have not celebrated it from that day on.

CJL sad as you are about your dad's death, I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted you to stop celebrating your wedding anniversary.

LizzieW,

You are right my dad would not have wanted us to stop celebrating our anniversary but that date each year holds entirely different memories for me now and celebrating is usually the last thing on my mind.

Best Wishes

My nephew has 3 children, age 4, 3 and 2, and each one was born on the birthday of someone in the family.

When we had a family get together a couple of years ago of  with a total of 20 people there, there were 4 sets of "same day birthdays" , not only the  3 children above, but also my sons girlfriend's birthday was the same as my nephews wife.
Incredible that out of 20 people, only 12 weren't sharing a birthday with someone else there!

I don`t have anyone who shares my birthday in my tree but my son has the same birthday as my Dad. My Dad died when I was young and I was never quite sure of when his birthday was until my son was born. I always feel a tinge of sadness on my son`s birthday but I do think it is lovely that they have the same birthday and it does make my son and Dad feel closer in a way. I always calculate how old Dad would have been and I am sure he would have loved it sharing the day with my son.

Another coincidence my sister is 4 years older than me and her birthday is two days after mine, and her sons her eldest is 4 years older than her youngest son and guess what his birthday is two days after the youngest!

Well when I started going out with my husband I found out that his parents shared the same birthday and discovered it was the same day as my Mother's and my Mother and his Dad were born in the same year.

We had a son and he was born on his Dad's birthday which was really amazing so the poor boys have to share their birthdays.

But the other weird fact in the family is that my husband's Dad died on the 28th Sept and then I had done research before he had died and found out his Father had died on that day and also his Grandmother on the same side had died on that day so the 28th Sept is not a good day in his family now.

Assuming all dates in the year are equally likely, in a room of more than 23 people, it is more likely than not that two people share a birthday. With 57 people, the probability reaches 99%.

There are actually peaks and troughs through the year. I'm pretty certain that my birth in September was not unrelated to goings on at Christmas (a "peak"); Bykerlads' birth was likely in one of the "troughs", though there is also a special case - February 29th, which could be an explanation.

Modern medical practice also skews birthday distribution. How many c-sections would be scheduled for December 25th?
