shared birthday?
« on: Thursday 28 February 13 19:52 GMT (UK) »
Am I the only person to have absolutely noone in my Tree who has/had the same birthday as me?
You'd think out of all those hundreds of ancestors, whose exact date I have managed to find,  one would have had the same as me!!

No, of all the people in my tree 3236 according to Legacy, there is no-one sharing my birthday, no-one sharing my husband's birthday in July, our daughter's in November, one of our sons also in November, my mother's in September and the only person who shared a birthday with my dad was his twin sister.   :o

I share the same birthday as my grandfather, but, apart from that I don't have any other matching birthdays in my tree at all!
Johnson, Crankshaw, Burdett, Shaw, Dawson/Dulson, Whitebread/Whitbread, Drane, Hyett, Holtaway, Thompson, Bodell, Livermore, Gee, Vernon, Smith......the list goes on....and on...and on....

One of my daughters was born on the same day as her paternal great grandmother and we've had two more children born into the family on the same day which I think is a miricle considering that no other birthdays match up...

Ours come in clusters.  In one month on the 18th, my maternal grandmother, the 23rd my great aunt and my younger son, then 2 days later me.   Other close groupings in one week like that through the year but no others on the same day, nor can I see any on the wider tree.
Due to reasons I won't bore you all with, several months before my son's birth the operating theatre was booked for his arrival, and I was able to go out and phone my great aunt to tell her "Guess what you are getting for your 89th birthday?"    The following year his first and her 90th managed a joint message on the radio.

My Nan had a nephew born on the same day (year and all) as her. I can imagine her proud brother telling his parents that his baby was born, only to hear them say "yeah, we had one today, too."

I was a teacher of French for 37 years and asked every single pupil I taught what their birthday was- "quelle est la date de ton anniversaire?"- only 2 out of many thousands shared my birthday!
Currently in the family, birthday-months seem to be grouped together, mainly either Autumn or July.
Haven't done an analysis of all the ancestors' dates though. It would be interesting, though time-consuming, to see if birth month was linked to survival both in the short and long term.

At work years ago, it was the tradition to bring in cream cakes on your birthday. I mentioned that I would be doing that for mine and it turned out that 3 other colleagues were born on the same day and in the same year!!! And one of them was a twin so that made 5 of us  :o

Strangely enough one of the twins' sons shared a birthday with my daughter but not the same year.

My ancestors' birthdays also come in clusters and certain months are definitely more common & recur in the family in the present day

My eldest daughter shares her birthday with my mum.  She was my parents first grandchild and my mum stills says 23 years on that she was the best birthday present that she has ever received.

My youngest daughter was born on the same day as my great grandmother 135 years apart.

On a sadder note my beloved dad died on my wedding anniversary.  We have not celebrated it from that day on.

Best Wishes
